Toyota Camry Keys & Fobs

What your Camry uses depends on the year. Older Camrys (roughly 2002 to 2011) run a transponder chip key, often Toyota's "G" or "H" chip family, that has to be cut to the ignition and programmed to the car. From about 2012 to 2017 you'll usually see a remote-head key, where the transponder, key blade, and lock/unlock buttons are all one unit. From 2018 on, most Camrys moved to a push-to-start proximity (smart) fob that the car detects in your pocket. We pull the right key data off your VIN, cut the blade (laser-cut/sidewinder on the newer ones), and program it with our Autel IM608 and Xtool gear so the immobilizer accepts it. Push-to-start smart fobs cost more than a basic transponder key, and some model years need an existing working key on hand to add a spare faster.

The most common Camry call we get is worn fob buttons or a fob that's gotten flaky on range, where you have to stand right next to the car to get it to unlock. Nine times out of ten the fix is a fresh CR2032 coin battery, which is cheap and takes a minute. If the buttons are mushy or cracked from years in a pocket, the case and pad are worn out, not the electronics, so we can reshell the fob or program a fresh remote instead of charging you for a whole new system. The other big one is an owner who's down to a single key and wants a spare cut before the last one breaks or walks off.

Toyota Camry Key Fob FCC IDs

Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Toyota Camry takes before the van rolls out.

Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.

Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We program Camry keys by VIN, so we don't need a working key in hand. On some push-to-start years it's faster and cheaper if you still have one good fob, but if you've lost all of them we can still build and program a fresh one on-site, then wipe the old keys if you want them locked out.
