Ford Fusion Keys & Fobs
The Ford Fusion key depends on the year. Early 2006-2009 Fusions used a transponder chip key with a separate plug-in remote on most trims. From roughly 2010-2012, Ford moved to the 4-button flip-key style remote-head key with an integrated transponder. The 2013-2020 Fusion split two ways: base trims run a bladed laser-cut (sidewinder) remote-head key with a transponder, while SE/Titanium and higher trims use a push-to-start proximity smart fob (intelligent access) with a hidden emergency blade inside. All of these need programming to the car, not just cutting. Transponder and remote-head keys get programmed through the OBD port; proximity smart fobs are coded to the Fusion's body module by VIN. We carry the Ford-spec blanks and program with Autel IM608 and Xtool gear on-site.
The most common Fusion fob problem we get called for is a worn coin cell, not a dead car key. The smart fobs run on a CR2032 battery, and when it gets weak the push-to-start range drops and the remote lock/unlock gets flaky before it quits entirely. A lot of owners think the fob died when it just needs a fresh battery. We'll swap the cell and test it. The other frequent call is buttons that stop responding on the older 2010-2012 flip keys, where the rubber pad and internal contacts wear out from daily use. If the remote itself is failing, we cut and program a replacement fob on-site rather than sending you to the dealer.
Ford Fusion Key Fob FCC IDs
Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Ford Fusion takes before the van rolls out.
| Years | Key type | FCC ID |
|---|---|---|
| 2013-2016 | Remote-head key (base trims) | N5F-A08TAA |
| 2013-2020 | Proximity smart fob | M3N-A2C31243300 |
Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.
Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the year and key type. A basic transponder or remote-head key for an older Fusion runs less than a push-to-start proximity smart fob, which costs more because of the chip and the coding it needs. Most Fusion jobs land in the low-to-mid hundreds, and that's still well under dealer pricing. We give you the price before any work starts.
