What Key Does the Ford Edge Use?
Which key the Edge takes depends on the year. First-gen Edges (2007-2014) use a transponder key, a cut blade with a chip in the head that has to be paired to the car's immobilizer. Around the 2011-2014 refresh you'll also see remote-head keys and the flip-out blade fobs. Second-gen Edges (2015 and up) moved to a proximity (push-to-start) smart fob with Ford's later 128-bit encryption, and most of those use a laser-cut/sidewinder emergency blade hidden inside the fob.
