Honda Odyssey Keys & Fobs

The Honda Odyssey's key has changed a lot across generations. Older vans (roughly mid-2000s through early 2010s) use a transponder-chipped blade key with a separate remote, or a remote-head key where the chip, buttons, and metal blade are one unit. Newer Odysseys (the 2018-and-up generation, plus the higher trims before it) use a proximity smart fob for push-button start with the keyless walk-up and power sliding-door buttons. Honda's smart systems run on HITAG-family encryption, so a blank fob has to be married to the van's immobilizer. Every one of these needs programming to the specific VIN, not just a key cut. We pull the immobilizer data, cut the blade by code (or laser-cut the emergency insert on smart-key vans), and program the transponder or proximity fob to your Odyssey with our Autel and Xtool gear right there on-site.

A common one on the sliding-door Odysseys: the power-door and tailgate buttons get hammered by daily kid-and-cargo use, and the rubber pads crack or stop responding while the van still starts fine. The fix is usually a fresh proximity fob shell and case reprogrammed to your VIN, not a whole new key system. The other frequent call is a smart fob that's gone sluggish or intermittent. Nine times out of ten that's a dead CR2032 coin battery inside the fob, a two-minute swap, before anyone needs to replace the unit.

Honda Odyssey Key Fob FCC IDs

Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Honda Odyssey takes before the van rolls out.

Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.

Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. An all-keys-lost Odyssey is one of our regular jobs. We pull the immobilizer data by VIN, cut a fresh blade or laser-cut emergency insert, and program a new transponder or proximity fob to the van on-site. It takes longer than adding a spare since we're starting the immobilizer from scratch, but you don't need to tow it anywhere.
