Honda Accord Keys & Fobs

What your Accord needs depends on the year. Older Accords (roughly mid-2000s through 2012) use a transponder key with a Honda HITAG chip cut on a standard edge blade, or a remote-head key that combines the chip and the lock/unlock buttons in one fob. Around 2013 the Accord moved to a high-security laser-cut (sidewinder) blade, and trims with push-to-start switched to a proximity smart fob you keep in your pocket. Every one of these has to be programmed to the car's immobilizer, not just cut. We pull the key code or program by VIN, then sync the transponder or proximity fob to your Accord with an Autel IM608 or Xtool unit right at your driveway. Proximity smart fobs run more than a basic transponder key because the part itself costs more and the programming takes a few extra steps.

A common Accord call is the smart fob that stops working a few feet from the car, or push-to-start that only reads the fob when you hold it against the start button. Nine times out of ten that's a dead CR2032 coin battery inside the fob, not a failed key. It's a two-minute swap and we carry the batteries. The other regular one is worn lock/unlock buttons on an older remote-head key from years of thumb pressure; once the rubber pad cracks the signal gets flaky, and the fix is a fresh remote-head key cut and programmed to replace it.

Honda Accord Key Fob FCC IDs

Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Honda Accord takes before the van rolls out.

Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.

Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. An all-keys-lost Accord takes a little longer than adding a spare because there's no working key to clone, but we handle it on-site. We pull your key code or program by VIN, cut a fresh blade, and program the transponder or proximity fob to the car's immobilizer in your driveway.
