Jeep Compass Keys & Fobs
Which key your Compass uses depends on the year. First-gen Compass models (2007-2017) run a transponder chip key or a remote-head key with a separate plug-in fob, both with a metal blade that has to be cut to your ignition. The second-gen Compass (2017 and up) splits two ways: base trims use a bladed remote-head flip/fixed key with a transponder, and higher trims with push-to-start use an FCA proximity (smart) fob that stays in your pocket. Every one of these needs the transponder or proximity chip programmed to your specific Compass through the OBD port, and proximity fobs also need the keyless-entry module synced.
