Dodge Charger Keys & Fobs

The Dodge Charger has used a few key types depending on year. Earlier cars (roughly 2006-2010) run a remote-head key with a transponder chip in the head and a laser-cut (sidewinder) blade. Around 2011-2014 many Chargers moved to the FOBIK ("fob-integrated key") that twists in a dash slot. From the 2015 facelift forward, most push-to-start Chargers use a proximity smart fob with passive keyless entry and a hidden emergency blade inside. All of these are encrypted to the car's security system, so a new key or fob has to be cut to the cylinder (or the blade matched) and the transponder/proximity data programmed to your VIN before the car will crank. We do both on-site with Autel and Xtool gear.

A common one on Chargers, especially the 2011-2014 FOBIK and the proximity fobs, is the rubber button pad wearing through and the case cracking at the seam from years in a pocket. The car still starts because the transponder/proximity chip is fine, but lock, unlock, and trunk stop responding. Often it's just a dead CR2032 coin cell, which we swap in a minute. If the buttons themselves are worn or the case is split, we replace the fob shell or the whole fob and reprogram it to your VIN so everything works again.

Dodge Charger Key Fob FCC IDs

Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Dodge Charger takes before the van rolls out.

Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.

Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.
