Hyundai Tucson Keys & Fobs
The Hyundai Tucson runs two different key systems depending on year and trim. Older Tucsons (roughly through the early-to-mid 2010s) use a transponder key. Many of those have a laser-cut/sidewinder blade with a flip-style remote-head fob, and the chip has to be programmed to the car's immobilizer before it'll start the engine. Newer Tucsons (the third gen and the current 2022-and-up redesign) move to a proximity smart fob for push-to-start, plus there's a hidden mechanical emergency blade tucked inside the fob for the door. Both the transponder keys and the smart fobs need immobilizer programming through the OBD port, and on most Tucsons we register that fob to the car by pulling key data off the VIN. If your trim still uses a turn key with a remote, we can do remote-head keys too. We carry the blanks and the proximity fobs and program everything at your location.
A common one on the Tucson: the smart fob still unlocks the doors but the car won't recognize it for push-to-start, or it only works pressed right against the start button. Nine times out of ten that's a dead coin cell inside the fob (a CR2032), not a dead fob. Swap the battery and it usually wakes back up. The other frequent call is the worn flip key on older Tucsons, where the blade gets sloppy in the ignition or the buttons quit.
