What your Elantra uses depends on the year. Older Elantras (mid-2000s through about 2016) run a transponder chip key, often a remote-head key where the blade and the lock/unlock buttons are one unit, with a Hyundai HITAG-2 style chip that has to be programmed to the car's immobilizer.
