Acura TLX Key Fob Replacement
Lost the key or need a spare fob for your Acura TLX? A mobile locksmith comes to you and programs it on-site, same day, well under dealer pricing.
Locked out of your Acura TLX or down to one smart key? We come to you in McKinney or anywhere in North Dallas, cut and program a new TLX key fob on-site by VIN, and you're usually back in the car the same day. Acura dealers want you to tow it in and pay a premium; we do it in your driveway for a lot less.
- Key or fob cut to your VIN
- Programmed & tested on-site
- Mobile: we come to your car
- Usually well under dealer pricing
*Flat estimate for a standard transponder key. Proximity / push-to-start smart fobs cost more, and the exact price is quoted on the call before any work.
Acura TLX Keys & Fobs
The Acura TLX has used a proximity (push-to-start) smart key fob for its whole run, both the first-gen 2015-2020 car and the second-gen 2021-and-newer one. There's no metal key to turn in an ignition; the fob talks to the car over an encrypted Honda/Acura HITAG-style transponder signal, and there's a hidden mechanical emergency blade inside the fob for the door if the battery dies. Programming a new TLX fob isn't plug-and-play. The fob has to be added to the car's immobilizer, and the proximity smart-entry system has to learn it, which means a tool that pulls the security data through the OBD port. We do this on-site by VIN with Autel IM608-class equipment, so you don't lose the use of your existing keys.
A common one on the 2015-2020 TLX: the fob feels dead even with a fresh battery, or the dash flashes a "key not detected" message and you have to hold the fob right against the start button to crank. Sometimes that's a worn coin cell (these fobs run a CR2032 and it drains faster if the fob sits near keys that keep waking it up), and sometimes it's the fob's internal contacts wearing out after years of pocket use. We test the fob, swap the battery, and if the unit itself is failing we cut a fresh emergency blade and program a replacement smart key on the spot.
Acura TLX Key Fob FCC IDs
Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Acura TLX takes before the van rolls out.
| Years | Key type | FCC ID |
|---|---|---|
| 2015-2020 | Proximity smart fob | KR5V1X |
Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.
Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. An all-keys-lost TLX is the situation dealers love to upcharge on, but we handle it mobile. We pull the security data from the car by VIN through the OBD port, cut a new emergency blade, and program a fresh proximity fob so you can start and lock the car. It takes longer than adding a spare to existing keys, but it's still typically a same-day job in your driveway.
