Lexus ES Keys & Fobs
The Lexus ES uses different key tech by generation. Mid-2000s ES 300/330 and early ES 350 run a transponder chip (Toyota/Lexus G-chip or H-chip depending on year) in either a remote-head key or a separate remote with a laser-cut sidewinder blade. From roughly 2007 on, most ES 350s switched to Lexus Smart Access: a proximity push-to-start fob with no metal blade in daily use, plus a hidden emergency insert key. The current ES (2019+ redesign, including ES 250/300h/350) is all proximity Smart Access. Transponder and remote-head keys get cut to your VIN and programmed through the OBD port. Proximity fobs need onboard registration into the car's smart-key system, which is why we program them at your vehicle, not over the counter. On most ES years we add a new fob without erasing your existing working key.
A common one on the Smart Access ES: the car suddenly won't detect the fob and throws a "key not detected" message, or the push-start needs you to hold the fob against the button. Nine times out of ten it's the CR2032 coin battery inside the fob, not the fob itself, so we swap that first before assuming the worst. The other frequent call is a cracked or water-damaged fob from years in a pocket; the buttons or the internal board give out, and the fix is a fresh fob cut and programmed to the car. If you're down to your last key, that's the time to get a spare made, before a lost key turns into an all-keys-lost job that costs more.
Lexus ES Key Fob FCC IDs
Flip your fob over: the FCC ID is printed on the back of the case. Find it below, or just read it to our dispatcher. It tells us the exact remote your Lexus ES takes before the van rolls out.
| Years | Key type | FCC ID |
|---|---|---|
| 2007-2012 | Proximity smart fob | HYQ14AAB |
| 2013-2018 | Proximity smart fob | HYQ14FBA |
| 2019-2024 | Proximity smart fob | HYQ14FBF |
Spare key with a working key in hand: from $75. Full replacement, no key at all: from $189. Smart and proximity fobs price above basic chip keys; the exact flat number comes with your VIN on the call.
Trim and market can change the fob, and several IDs often fit one model year. We confirm the exact part by VIN on every job, so a mismatched guess never reaches your driveway.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. All-keys-lost on a Lexus ES takes longer than adding a spare because we have to pull key data and register a fresh fob into the smart-key system from scratch, but we do it on-site. Bring the title or registration and a photo ID so we can confirm you own the car. It costs more than copying a working key, so a spare made now saves you later.
Depends on the year. An older transponder or remote-head ES key is on the lower end; a Smart Access proximity fob for a newer ES costs more because the fob itself is pricier. Either way we usually come in well under Lexus dealership pricing, and we come to you instead of you waiting days for a dealer appointment and a tow.
We come to you. We cut the blade by your VIN and program the fob right at your Lexus ES in your driveway, office lot, or wherever it's parked in North Dallas. The car has to be present for proximity programming since the fob registers into that specific vehicle, but you never have to drive or tow it anywhere.
We can. A 2013 ES 350 runs Lexus Smart Access, a proximity push-to-start fob with a hidden emergency insert, registered into the smart-key system right at the car, usually without erasing your existing fob. The mid-2000s transponder keys and the current ES fobs are the same visit. Every year is covered by VIN.
It depends on the year. 2007-2012 Lexus ES: HYQ14AAB; 2013-2018 Lexus ES: HYQ14FBA; 2019-2024 Lexus ES: HYQ14FBF. The ID is printed on the back of your fob case. Trim and market can change it, so we confirm the exact part by VIN before the van rolls out.
